Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about buying and using Pictor Mart GPS trackers, AI dashcams, e-locks and fuel sensors. Pictor Mart is the online store of Pictor Telematics Pvt. Ltd., a New Delhi vehicle-telematics company established in 2009.
SIM, subscription and the app
Do Pictor Mart GPS trackers need a SIM card?
Yes. Pictor GPS trackers use a cellular SIM (2G or 4G depending on the model) to send live location data to the tracking app. Many devices ship with a free SIM and data included for the first period, so they work out of the box.
Is an app subscription included?
Most devices include a free app subscription for an introductory period (often one year on selected models). After that, tracking continues on a low-cost renewal. The included period is listed on the product page or confirmed at checkout.
Which app is used to track my device?
Depending on the device family, tracking is done through a dedicated Pictor / partner app available for Android and iOS, with web and SMS access on many models. The correct app and login details are provided with your device.
Installation and setup
Do I need professional installation?
It depends on the device. OBD and magnetic/wireless trackers are plug-and-play and need no wiring. Wired trackers, dashcams and e-locks are best fitted by a technician for a clean, tamper-resistant installation. Pictor can guide you on installation for your vehicle type.
How do plug-and-play OBD trackers work?
OBD trackers (such as the PS21, PS22 and PS25) plug directly into your vehicle's OBD-II port. They draw power from the port and begin real-time tracking immediately — no cutting or splicing of wires required.
Devices and features
What is the difference between 2G and 4G GPS trackers?
2G trackers are cost-effective and work well on routes with standard network coverage. 4G trackers offer faster, more reliable and more future-proof connectivity, with quicker location updates and richer data — the better choice for new installations and long-term fleets.
What are ADAS and DMS in a dashcam?
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) watches the road ahead and warns of risks such as lane departure and forward collision. DMS (Driver Monitoring System) watches the driver and alerts on fatigue or distraction. Together they help prevent accidents rather than only recording them.
How long does the battery last on wireless and asset trackers?
Battery life depends on the model and reporting frequency. Compact asset trackers like the PT30 (3,000mAh) last weeks, while high-capacity models like the PT08 (10,000mAh) can run for several months on a single charge. Wired trackers draw power from the vehicle and do not rely on an internal battery for day-to-day operation.
How are GPS e-locks unlocked?
Depending on the model, a Pictor e-lock is unlocked remotely from the fleet platform, by RFID card, or over Bluetooth — so access can be restricted to authorised people, times and locations. Every lock and unlock event is recorded with a timestamp.
How do fuel level sensors detect theft?
A fuel sensor continuously measures the tank's fuel level. A sudden drop that does not match engine consumption signals fuel being drained. Paired with a GPS tracker, the alert includes the exact time and location of the event, so pilferage can be pinpointed and stopped.
Coverage, compatibility and standards
Do the trackers work across India?
Yes. Pictor devices are set up for Indian network conditions and provide live tracking anywhere with mobile coverage. 4G models automatically fall back to 2G where 4G is unavailable, keeping tracking uninterrupted on long routes.
Can a fuel sensor or e-lock work with my existing GPS platform?
In most cases, yes. Pictor sensors and locks connect to a wide range of GPS trackers and fleet platforms over wired (RS485/analog) or Bluetooth (BLE) interfaces. Share your current setup with our team and we will confirm compatibility for your fleet.
